Tusa – A really good start for the “Sports Runway” project in Tusa with the Kick-off Meeting that took place on 15-16 February 2019, at the premises of Via Collegio.
Funded by the Erasmus + Sport program, the project aims to promote social inclusion and equality through sporting activities for people of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of socio-economic status and in order to guarantee the right to sport even in more disadvantaged areas.
The project, coordinated by the New Horizons of Tusa, involves the participation of 5 other partner organizations – from Italy, the UISP Territorial Committee of Palermo and Ciclabili Siciliane – and foreigners – Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (Turkey), ADEP (Portugal) , WYZSZA (Poland).
The meeting was an opportunity to meet personally the representatives of the foreign partners involved.
The Sports Runway partners illustrated their contribution and the activities they managed and then went on to explain the aims of the project, the overall schedule of planned initiatives that will culminate in the creation of four sports modules to be implemented both in Italy and abroad. Specifically, there are four disciplines involved: futsal, basketball, cycling and badminton.
In the course of their interventions, all the partners reaffirmed the role of sport as a vehicle for inclusion, participation and social aggregation, as well as a tool for psychophysical wellbeing and prevention.
One indispensible element of the event was the meeting with the local Municipality of Tusa with whom New Horizons collaborates since its foundation and together is realizing another Erasmus+ project RESTAT – Recognizing Skills to Transform Accessible Tourism“.
The partners were welcomed by the vicemayor, Angelo Tudisca, who for the occasion emphasized that sport plays a fundamental role in everyone’s daily life, as well as the importance of international cooperation as a precious opportunity for the Tusa community and the direction undertaken in this way. sense from the municipal administration.
The partners will meet again in June 2019, in Penamacor, Portugal, during a capacity building for project staff and sports operators.
